This policy explains what we collect when you contact us, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. Westway Safaris Ltd is a luxury safari operator registered in Tanzania (TTB Registration 023170) and a member of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO). Our registered office is in Arusha, Tanzania, and we design tailor-made safaris across Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.
For the purposes of this policy, references to "we," "us," and "our" mean Westway Safaris Ltd. References to "you" and "your" mean any person who provides personal information to us or interacts with our website, advertisements, or sales channels.

Information you give us directly
When you submit an inquiry through our website, our Meta lead forms (Facebook and Instagram), our WhatsApp Business line, or by email, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone or WhatsApp number
- Your country of residence
- Travel preferences including intended travel dates, group size, budget range, and trip occasion
- Any additional details you choose to share about your safari interests
Information collected automatically
When you visit westwaysafaris.com, we may automatically collect:
- Your IP address and approximate location (country and city level)
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages visited, time spent on pages, and referral source
- Cookie data for analytics and advertising attribution
Information collected during booking
If you proceed to book a safari, we will additionally collect passport details, dietary requirements, medical conditions relevant to your trip, emergency contact information, and payment details necessary to confirm reservations with lodges, parks, and transport providers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To respond to your inquiry and prepare a tailored safari proposal
- To follow up on quotes, answer questions, and guide you through the planning process
- To make bookings on your behalf with lodges, national parks, ground operators, and transport providers
- To send you trip documents, invoices, payment receipts, and travel updates
- To improve our website, advertising, and sales process based on aggregated patterns
- To comply with Tanzanian tax, tourism, and consumer protection regulations
- To send occasional updates about new itineraries or seasonal offers, only if you have opted in
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to you as a resident of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing your information includes:
- Consent when you submit an inquiry form or opt in to receive updates
- Contract performance when we need your information to prepare a quote or fulfill a booking
- Legal obligation for tax records, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
- Legitimate interest for improving our service, preventing fraud, and conducting analytics in a way that does not override your rights
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We share it only with the parties necessary to plan and deliver your safari, including:
- Lodges and camps where you will stay during your trip
- National park authorities for permit issuance and entry fees
- Ground transport operators, guides, and bush pilots
- Payment processors and banks handling your transaction
- B2B partner agencies if your booking originated through one of our trade partners
- Government authorities where required by Tanzanian law
- Our technology providers including email hosting, customer relationship management, and cloud storage, all of whom are bound by confidentiality obligations
We never share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for unrelated marketing purposes.
6. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred outside your country of residence in the course of planning your safari, since lodges, parks, and partners are located across East Africa. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any transfer is protected by appropriate confidentiality agreements with the receiving party.
7. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep inquiry information for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, after which it is deleted from our active systems unless you have become a client. For confirmed clients, we retain booking records for seven years to comply with Tanzanian tax and accounting law. Payment data is retained only as long as required by our payment processors and financial regulations.
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access to a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correction of any information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Withdrawal of consent for marketing communications at any time
- Objection to processing based on legitimate interest
- Portability of your information in a structured, machine-readable format

9. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of any sale of personal information. 10. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for site analytics through Google Analytics, advertising attribution through the Meta Pixel for our Facebook and Instagram campaigns, and basic site functionality. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some site features may not function properly as a result.
11. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted email transmission, password-protected systems, and limited access to client data on a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.
12. Children
Our services are designed for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent version was published. Significant changes will be communicated through our website or by email to active clients.
